As a Zoo Herpetologist, my work bridges field exploration and ex situ conservation to protect some of the world’s most threatened amphibians and reptiles. I oversee and consult on ex situ programs that safeguard species like the Ozark hellbender, Vipers, and Caribbean boas, ensuring their survival when wild populations face mounting pressures from habitat loss, disease, and climate change. Ex situ conservation is not simply a safety net, it is a critical tool that complements in situ efforts, enabling captive breeding, research, and education to support species recovery worldwide. Drawing on my experience in field research, zoo management, and public outreach, I am dedicated to creating tangible conservation outcomes that give imperiled wildlife a fighting chance, while inspiring broader appreciation for often-overlooked species.
